Chief (Mrs) Bisi Ogunleye (OFR)

Is the Board Chair of WANEP Nigeria and represents the South West zone on the Board. She began helping women organize themselves by donating one month's salary to a group of rural women so that they could start their own businesses. When loans were repaid, the money was reinvested in other groups.

In 1982, she founded COWAN - the Country Women Association of Nigeria, with six cooperatives of 150 members. Now, that has grown to over 1400 groups and over 31000 active members across numerous states in Nigeria. In 1993, COWAN incorporated CEDSHA - Center for Development and Self-Help Activities, which was created (by her husband Peter) for young women, and rural women. Through COWAN, she established NARWA - Network of African Rural Women Association, which has programs in credit, agriculture, and small business development. She serves as co-chair of the Women's Environment and Development Organization (WEDO) and one of the women on the United Nations Earth Council.

Mr Samson Sambe

He is the Vice Chair for WANEP Nigeria and represents the North Central zone on the Board. He is the President of the Children?s Right Information Network (CRIN), Makurdi in Benue State. Mr. Samba, a Journalist by profession, combines Peacebuilding theory and practice with his wealth of experience dealing with youths and children in the formal and informal sector of the society.

He is in the process of completing his Phd in Mass Communication with bias in Development Journalism.

Mrs. Naomi Akpan-Ita

She is the Director, Treasury and Finance for WANEP Nigeria and represents the South South zone on the Board. Mrs. Akpan-Ita is the Executive Director of Impact for Change and Development, an NGO with special focus on change and sustainable development for its target audience. Mrs. Akapn-Ita who is in the process of completing her PhD in development field with bias on trauma healing and refugee is the immediate past Zonal Coordinator for WANEP Nigeria South South zone

Prof Patricia Donli

Prof Patricia Donli is the Director for Training and Capacity Building and North East Zone Representative on the Board.   Prof Donli is a Lecturer at University of Maiduguri and the Executive Director of Gender Equality, Peace and Development Centre (GEPaDC).  She is a gender activist who consults both for National and International Organisations and Institutions. She is a member of many professional bodies. She has over 25 academic publications and several workshop and seminar papers to her credit. Her vision is a world where there is recognition and appreciation of diversities as she believes that these are the panacea for a peaceful world. She believes strongly in mentoring as she thinks that the greatest tragedy in ones life is when its time for the person to move on and the person has no one to hand over the baton to.

Lawan Y. Abdullahi

Lawani Abdulahi is the Ex-Officio and North West Representative on the Board.  Lawani is the Executive Director of Village Development Initiative (VILDEV), Duste, Jigawa State and CSO’s Liaison Officer for Jigawa State House of Assembly.  His key skills and Experience include Community Mobilization and Engagement Skill.  Lawani has written many poems, books and Training Manual on Women Political Empowerment among others.

Mr Chukwuemeka B Eze Chm.C

He is the National Network Coordinator for WANEP and serves as the Secretary to the Board. Before now, he was the most senior program officer and in charge of Conflict Prevention at the WANEP-Nigeria secretariat. He holds Bachelors and Masters Degree in Political Science and International Relations from Enugu State University of Science and Technology and University of Nigeria, Nsukka respectively. Mr. Eze has over six years experience in peacebuilding and human security issues. He joined WANEP-Nigeria from the Centre for Peace in Africa where he was the Head of Institutional Development. Eze has very strong flair for training, writing, researching, monitoring and analyzing of conflict trends.

He consults for a number of organization and institutions in Nigeria in the area of peacebuilding and human security. He is also the Deputy Registrar for the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators of Nigeria and has several articles, books and journals in Peacebuilding to his credit.
